When a Woking-based church got in touch with Steelplan Kitchens to install a brand new kitchen, we were quick to meet all their requirements and needs...
With a growing congregation, counselling rooms, worshipping space to seat 850 people, a creche and a youth drop-in centre, this Woking church had a lot of hungry mouths to feed, and many cups of tea to make. But with a tired and old domestic kitchen, the daily life of the church was becoming a struggle.
Fortunately, an extension allowed for more space, and a larger kitchen which would provide everything the local community needs. Working alongside a Surrey-based architect and contractor, plans were pulled together to create a fantastic space, ready to accommodate everyone.
With our strong and durable polyester powder-coated mild steel cabinets – in this instance, selected in Flash White from our palette of 20 colours – we created a bright, fresh kitchen that’s not only pleasing to the eye but also hygienic. All complemented with stainless steel appliances and worktops that were made to measure with welded-in bowls. The result was a solid and durable work surface, with a seamless edge that prevents bacteria from hiding in joints and grouting. And with a long life cycle, Steeltops are guaranteed to stand the test of time in this bustling kitchen.
With many different uses for the new kitchen, the team also decided to install a service window and counter, with retractable shutter. This will ensure that meals can be served when needed, but the kitchen can also be closed off for more private events. This again was finished off with a steel worktop, matching the aesthetic of the rest of the kitchen.
And with an integrated commercial dishwasher, there’s just no end to the possibilities that this church can offer its local community and congregation.

The metal is fire resistant and the powder coat finish formulated so that no toxic fumes are emitted in the case of fire.
Unlike wooden/chipboard cabinets the Steelplan Kitchen carcass does not contain any material that may sustain, harbour or encourage insects or bacteria.
The powder coated finish means that the units can be kept to an extremely high level of cleanliness and hygiene at all times. Essential when used in health locations.
It looks great! The hidden steel backbone is dressed up with a choice of doors to produce whatever look and feel you want.
