Chiddingfold Village Hall in Surrey recently commissioned Steelplan’s services to transform their old, worn-out kitchen with new powder-coated steel kitchen cabinets and stainless-steel worktops. Take a look at our before and after pictures below.
Chiddingfold Village Hall is in great demand. According to Chiddingfold’s Trustee for Marketing & Hire Valissa Burnett, regular users include a weekly lunch club with 50 people, a nursery, a twice-monthly cinema event and annual welcome lunch for up to 100 people. That’s a lot of people to cook and clean for.
After 27 years, the existing kitchen was no longer fit for purpose. That’s why, Valissa says, the hall needed an upgrade. Rather than going to a provider of MDF/wooden cabinets that wouldn’t stand the test of time, she chose a semi-commercial powder-coated Steelplan kitchen for its “construction, durability and long lifespan”.

“When factoring in the life span of the steel kitchen the increased cost of purchase was more viable,” Valissa said.
The project faced some unique challenges. The dimensions and location of the range cooker and extraction meant that the planned layout had to be changed. But the works have made a night-and-day difference to the kitchen, which is now easy to clean, durable, fire and water-resistant and has a sleek, semi-commercial look.
“It has been a pleasure dealing with Chris from the outset,” said Valissa, who added that her favourite thing about the new kitchen was its durability.
Steelplan are pleased to have delivered another successful kitchen project to another happy client.

The inherent strength of metal and a combination of the benefits listed on this page mean that a steel Kitchen will far exceed the life expectancy of a standard wooden carcass kitchens in semi-commercial environments.
The polyester powder coated steel is impervious to water. No more swollen chipboard or rotting MDF.
The metal is fire resistant and the powder coat finish formulated so that no toxic fumes are emitted in the case of fire.
Unlike wooden/chipboard cabinets the Steelplan Kitchen carcass does not contain any material that may sustain, harbour or encourage insects or bacteria.
The powder coated finish means that the units can be kept to an extremely high level of cleanliness and hygiene at all times. Essential when used in health locations.
It looks great! The hidden steel backbone is dressed up with a choice of doors to produce whatever look and feel you want.
